The workgroup IT is responsible for the operation and development of an up-to-date IT infrastructure from server to terminal. In addition to standard services such as internet access, email, telephone system, printing and back-up of data the department integrates hard and software in accordance with individual requirements from the scientific departments and workgroups or the administration.

A number of high-performance computers are used to virtualise a large number of specialised servers. All established operating systems serve as a basis with a focus on Linux.

In addition to personal assistance of all users as part of IT service the workgroup is also cooperates with scientists and administrative staff in optimising and making organisational processes transparent.

The working environment in a modern research institute is incredibly diverse and interesting and ideal for the training of young people. The IT workgroup therefore regularly trains young people to become IT Specialists in System Integration.
