CAMPUS AWARD enters second round with new additions
The best degree theses from the University of Bremen dealing with topics of sustainable use of resources, protection of environment, climate or the oceans can now be nominated for the "CAMPUS AWARD: Research for a Sustainable Future". Unlike last year, this time one PhD and one Master dissertations will be honoured with a total of 3000 Euro. The nomination of suitable graduates starts on September 1, 2017.
The CAMPUS AWARD: Research for a Sustainable Future is bestowed by the KELLNER & STOLL – FOUNDATION FOR CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT, the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) and the University of Bremen. A new addition in the circle of organisers are the alumni of the University of Bremen. The association of former students and employees, which was a partner at last year’s event, has increased its funding allowing for a second prize to be awarded. Bremen-based companies ADLER Solar and REETEC also support the award again.
Graduates from the University of Bremen can be nominated, whose theses strengthen sustainable research with their distinctive approaches, methods, results and practical relevance. However, the PhD or Master theses must have been obtained in the last two years. A direct application from the graduates is not possible. Nominations for the CAMPUS AWARD have to come from teaching staff at the University of Bremen (professors, private tutors (PDs), lecturers and others eligible to supervise PhD and Master theses).
A top class jury will review the applications and make a final selection: Professor Hildegard Westphal, Director of the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), Professor Andreas Breiter (Vice-President Research / Academics of the University of Bremen), Professor Anna-Katharina Hornidge (Head of Social Sciences at ZMT, Professor Justus Notholt from the University of Bremen, Fritz Habekuss, Science Editor at DIE ZEIT, Michael Wolff, Deputy Chair of the Alumni of the University of Bremen Association and CEO of fact-film Medienproduktions GmbH as well as Dr. Rita Kellner-Stoll and Reiner Stoll from KELLNER & STOLL – FOUNDATION FOR CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT.
Nominations for the CAMPUS AWARD can be sent in until November 11, 2017. More details on the terms and conditions for participation and the link for nominations can be found on the website www.campuspreis.de.
