Research interests

"I am a data scientist and ecological modeller interested in how the marine environment shapes fish and fisheries, and vice versa. I love wrangling data from environmental parameters via fisheries' catches and seals' dumpings to words in historic publications, to find underlying patterns of the structure and functioning of marine populations, communities and ecosystems. My PhD work has focused on how such patterns pose trade-offs in the attempt to generate optimal fishing yields from multiple species simultaneously. Since, I have mentally migrated to the tropics to investigate their artisanal fisheries' drivers and sustainability. I am a dedicated member of the Ecopath with Ecosim food web modelling community and a passionate R head, with particular interest in spatio-temporal regressions, time series analysis, and clustering and classification problems."
