Focus of research

My current focus of research settles on regulations reducing air pollution in the urban context of Metro Manila in the Philippines. Particulate matter pollution, caused through combustion in diesel engines, significantly places a challenge. These diesel engines are mainly to be found in (semi-)public transport and in the ships in the port of Manila. I would like to investigate on the de jure regulation to reduce air pollution and how these regulations are perceived, “translated” and applied on the local level. Research results are meant to contribute to identify local innovative solutions to tackle the challenges described and to support their diffusion. Results are to be obtained through semi-structured problem-centered qualitative interviews and qualitative content analysis.
