09/05/2022 | In the summer of 2020, the Bremen House of Science offered a vacation programme for middle and high school students. In addition to workshops on the production of podcasts and radio interviews, participation in the workshop "Drawing Sketchnotes" was also possible. After a two-hour introduction by an expert, the students were able to apply the skills they had learned during presentations by scientists.

Among others, the ZMT, one of the sponsors of the Bremen House of Science, participated in the event with a contribution on "Integrated aquaculture - living community in fish farming".

Two hours of instruction, thirty minutes of application - the results surprised everyone. The best drawings of the young participants were presented in an exhibition in the House of Science. The exhibition has been on tour now since March 2022, the first stop being the Bremen State Representation in Berlin. The "embassy" of Bremen and Bremerhaven represents the interests of the State of Bremen at the political level. The official opening will take place on May 19 at 12 noon, the exhibition will be on display until August 26, 2022.

Sketchnotes are a visual language that combines drawings and notes. They can be used to make content more understandable and help people better remember the information being conveyed. They can also be used in the development of new content and ideas and facilitate an exchange on the topic at hand. As a creative form of note-taking, sketchnotes offer many possible applications. The decisive factor is not drawing skills, but the ability to recognize key concepts and translate them into pictures or picture symbols.

The event is a cooperation of the Haus der Wissenschaft with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI), the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research GmbH (ZMT) and the University of Bremen.
