6.12.16 | Four scientists from Columbia, India, Malaysia and Jordan will be visiting the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research for three months as part of a NAM-Fellowship. They will do their research in the work groups Human Agency, Resilience and Diversity in Coral Reefs, Ecophysiology, Microbiology and Mangrove Ecology. Two of the new guests have already arrived in Bremen.

The fellowship of the NAM S&T Centre (www.namstct.org) and the ZMT are aimed at scientists from NAM S&T Centre’s member countries, who like to broaden their research expertise in the areas of ecology, biogeochemictry, modelling, marine ecosystems of the tropics or social sciences. Applicants must hold at least a Master of Science (M.SC.) or equivalent degree and should be actively engaged in research and development.

The NAM-Fellowship was initiated eight years ago to provide opportunities to scientist from developing countries to work with the ZMT and to strengthen their research skills and gain new knowledge.

“By offering this stipend jointly with the NAM S&T Centre the ZMT contributes to capacity building in the tropics, “ says Corinna Harms, coordinator of the programme at ZMT. “We are happy to again welcome excellent scientists from our partner countries at ZMT.”
