05/05/2023 | This year's Girls` / Boys` Day (formerly Future Day), a nationwide day of action for girls and boys from grade 5, took place on April 27. It is organized by companies, organizations, research institutions and universities, which use this day as a platform for the professional orientation of pupils. Participants have the opportunity to explore new and for them unknown occupational fields.

The ZMT also participated in the day. 15 very interested students from Bremen and Lower Saxony visited the institute to get a taste of research and an insight into marine science. The ZMT offered a very diverse programme: a small expedition to the water channel behind the institute to take samples and measurements with appropriate research equipment, a visit to the aquarium facility of the ZMT with its corals, reef fish and jellyfish, introduction to microscopy with light and scanning electron microscope, extracting DNA from plants and many other experiments in which the young people could actively participate. The students were supervised by staff members of the Experimental Marine Labs of the ZMT.
