The MEDIA Unit (Management of Electronic Resources, Data, Information and Open Access) provides library services for ZMT staff members, guest scientists and students to use the scientific reference library to meet their research and information demands. The main focus of the library collection is on biogeochemistry, coastal management, ecology, fisheries biology, marine ecosystems, and social sciences.
The collection comprises about 9,000 monographs and offers access to more than 8,500 online journals and databases. The main part of the collection is available via Inter-Library Loan.
The ZMT library works closely together with national and international counterparts and is a member of the Common Library Network (GBV), and the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC und EURASLIC).
The ZMT encourages its scientists to publish their research results open access and has implemented an Open Access Policy. The instute is also committed to sustainably store its research data and to provide such data for future research studies. Therefore, the ZMT has introduced an Open Data Policy.
The MEDIA Unit supports ZMT scientists and provides advice on open access and also serves as the point of call regarding the Current Research Information System and reporting.
