Research interests
As an economist and policy researcher, I study how governance structures and economic activities contribute to achieving social, economic, and ecological sustainability in coastal and marine settings. My work spans development economics, climate change adaptation, and the governance of coastal and marine ecosystems. I focus on blue justice in mangrove conservation and restoration, and the social implications of blue economy initiatives Across these areas, I ask who benefits, who bears the costs, and how property rights, institutional arrangements, power relations, and gender inequalities shape access to resources, participation in decision-making, and economic opportunities. I value interdisciplinary research and work closely with local communities, civil society organisations, and policymakers to inform more inclusive, equitable and socially just policies. I am particularly committed to mentoring, and helping early career researchers to build sustainable careers.
