The REPICORE project assessed the resilience of coral reef social-ecological systems in Melanesia | Photo: S. Ferse

24.09.2018 | For the past five years, an interdisciplinary team of ZMT scientists led by coral reef ecologist Dr. Sebastian Ferse assessed the resilience of coral reef social-ecological systems in Melanesia in the frame of the REPICORE project. The main focus were the effects of global climate change as well as local human activities and societal changes in the South Pacific. The project took a transdisciplinary approach, working closely with local inhabitants, policy makers, NGOs and an international network of scientific collaborators. This 18 min documentary film provides some insights into the research and key results, and follows the team during its final visit to the study region, during which project outcomes were discussed with local partners and community members.
