Two postdoctoral representatives are elected annually for one year each. The postdoctoral representatives work together with the ZMT Academy on the planning and design of support measures for postdoctoral students and contribute suggestions and needs from the postdoctoral students.

Through their presence in the Doctoral Studies Circle and at strategy meetings, the postdoctoral representatives contribute to the discussion on the function of and visions for the future of ZMT. The representatives are also involved in the inter-institutional cooperation of postdoctoral researchers within the Leibniz Association.

The exchange of experiences, knowledge and insights between postdocs at a large multidisciplinary institute not only benefits ZMT, but also the staff themselves. Postdoctoral researchers can become an integral part of decision-making processes at ZMT, a possibility that allows them to sharpen their profile within ZMT (and beyond).
