ZMT is inviting researchers to a workshop on Horizon Europe 2027 funding opportunities and proposal preparation on 29 September 2026, from 10:00 to 15:00 in the Large Seminar Room at ZMT. The workshop will provide an introduction to Horizon Europe as well as a closer look at funding opportunities relevant to ZMT’s research. It will be held in English and is divided into two sessions. Participants are welcome to attend the full programme or only the session most relevant to their work.
Horizon Europe basics and proposal preparation
The first session, from 10:00 to 12:00, is open to guests and is particularly aimed at colleagues who are new to Horizon Europe or have limited experience with the programme. More experienced researchers are also welcome.
Following opening remarks by ZMT’s Executive Board, participants will receive an overview of the Horizon Europe programme structure, with a focus on Cluster 6, Missions and Partnerships, as well as the different funding instruments, including Research and Innovation Actions (RIA), Innovation Actions (IA) and Coordination and Support Actions (CSA).
The session will also address proposal requirements and evaluation criteria. Participants will gain insights into common pitfalls and factors contributing to successful proposals from an evaluator’s perspective. Information on the support available from the National Contact Point Bioeconomy & Environment and lessons learned from both successful and unsuccessful proposals will provide practical guidance for researchers preparing future applications. The session will conclude with a Q&A.
Funding opportunities relevant to ZMT
Following a lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00, the second session will take place from 13:00 to 15:00 and is reserved for ZMT colleagues.
This session will focus specifically on Horizon Europe calls relevant to ZMT, including funding opportunities connected to the institute’s strategic research topics and geographical regions. It is primarily intended for colleagues with previous Horizon Europe experience, although newcomers are also welcome to participate.
The workshop will conclude with time for questions and discussion.
