Carbonate ecosystems of the Red Sea through time

Abstract:

The Red Sea is the youngest ocean on Earth and, while we perceive it as a coral paradise, it was for most of the time inimical to life. Today it still is more saline and warmer than other oceans. How have Red Sea ecosystems evolved through time, and what can we learn? The talk will present a short report of two years in Saudi Arabia and first research results.
