02.08.2018 | Dr. Enno Aufderheide, Secretary General of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), visited ZMT today to find out more about the institute’s work in Germany and in the tropics. He met with ZMT’s management and extended directorate as well as early career researchers to discuss current aspects of research at the institute.

Topics included ZMT’s work with regards to early career researchers and alumni relations as well as the strengthening of international networks and scientific exchange. In this context, Dr. Aufderheide presented different programmes of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation that could become more relevant for ZMT in the future. The discussion reflected the specificities of ZMT’s interdisciplinary nature and of its cooperation with tropical partner institutions.

Dr. Aufderheide, who is also a member of the ZMT Supervisory Board, was also shown around the institute’s mangrove greenhouse and the marine experimental ecology (MAREE).
