09/06/2020 | As our researchers currently can’t go on Bremen's scientific pub crawl "Science Goes Public" due to the Corona pandemic, knowledge will be streamed straight to your living room. The 9th episode of "Science for the Living Room", organised by AWIs4Future, features Dr. Nils Moosdorf from the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT). His talk "Go with the flow - Groundwater in the Earth System" will be streamed on YouTube on 11 June from 8:30 pm.
Groundwater is the largest liquid freshwater reservoir on Earth. But as we can't see it flowing in the ground below us, it is often overlooked. Its relevance for the Earth system is still unclear in many areas.
Hydrogeologist Nils Moosdorf from ZMT is working on the significance of groundwater for ecosystems and humans at tropical coasts. During "Science for the Living Room", he will give insights into the often surprising role that groundwater has for the functioning of ecosystems on land and in the sea.
Afterwards, Nils Moosdorf is available for 30 minutes to answer snack-sized questions.
