The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH (www.leibniz-zmt.de) is an independent research and teaching institute that provides scientific knowledge for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. The working group Fish Ecology and Evolution is seeking to fill an opening for a part-time scientist position (subject to release of funds)

Postdoctoral Researcher (gn)

(Reference: 19-FEE)

Your tasks:

  • Support the working group in the ZMT experimental facilities (MAREE) and biology laboratory. This includes project management and administrative tasks in the area of animal welfare and animal welfare applications as well as communication with the relevant authorities.
  • Advise and support students working in the experimental facilities

Requirements:

  • PhD in Biological sciences
  • Experience with experimental work on marine fishes
  • Experience with supervising students
  • Experience with project management

Additionally desired:

  • Experience with keeping and breeding marine fishes
  • Good knowledge of German language, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of administrative and legal procedures to work on marine fishes in Germany and in Bremen
  • Experience working in biological / molecular laboratories
  • Experience with scientific diving or willingness to participate a scientific diving course

Details of position:

Salary will be paid according to the German TV-L (EG 13). The position is available for part-time (15,2 hours per week) employment starting as soon as possible with a duration until June 30, 2027. The employment is based on the temporary reduction of the job scope by the job holder.
