About CoARA; The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is an international alliance committed to reforming how research and researchers are assessed, moving beyond narrow, metric-driven evaluations towards a more holistic recognition of quality, relevance, and impact. Central to CoARA’s White Paper (attached) is the call to value diverse research outputs, processes, and societal contributions, including open science practices, capacity building, policy engagement, and collaboration with non-academic actors. Rather than replacing excellence, CoARA promotes fairer, more transparent, and context-sensitive assessment systems that better reflect how research creates knowledge and contributes to society over time.
